About Pepper Sprays
Oleoresin Capsicum (OC), or Pepper Gas, is a derivative of hot cayenne
peppers and is the newest defensive agent. It is not an irritant like
tear gas. Pepper Gas is an inflammatory agent that, when in contact
with mucous membranes (eyes, nose, and throat) will cause immediate
dilation of the capillaries resulting in temporary blindness and instant
inflammation of the breathing tube tissues cutting off all but life
support breathing.
OC is a natural occurring organic substance that does not deteriorate with age nearly as quickly as tear gas, and will not cause any lasting effects. OC is effective against exposed subjects who feel no pain or are not bothered by it, such as psychotics and drug abusers. Pepper Gas has been proven to be the absolute best non-lethal deterrent available against attacks from vicious dogs and wild animals.
Advanced Protection Plus carries a variety of formulas which incorporates 10%-15% capsicum with a water-based, state-of-the-art fire-retardant propellant that is environmentally friendly and does not adversely affect the ozone layer.
The formula also includes an invisible dye to assist law enforcement identification of sprayed suspects when viewed under ultraviolet light.
There are three types of sprays sold: stream, fog, and foam. Stream sprayers offer compact, convenient packaging. Foggers dispense powerful bursts of fog in a manner that makes it easy to hit the intended target. Foam sprayers make it very difficult for the intended target (once hit) to remove the product.
These products use a propulsion valve delivery systems. Stream sprayers are compact which make them ideal for carrying in a purse or pocket. Foggers are larger deterrent devices which use high volume and high pressure. They are also effective at long distances and against multiple attackers. Foam sprayers are medium size devices which deliver a medium range burst of foam.
